Newsletter Archive

Create a public archive of your sent campaigns with a custom subdomain. Perfect for newsletter homepages and SEO.

Make your newsletters discoverable with a public archive. Subscribers can browse past issues, and search engines can index your content.

Overview

The Newsletter Archive feature lets you:

  • Publish sent campaigns to a public archive page
  • Custom subdomain like weekly.xmit.sh
  • SEO-friendly URLs for each newsletter
  • Custom branding with logo, colors, and social links
  • Subscribe CTA to grow your audience

Enabling the Archive

Navigate to Settings → Archive in your workspace dashboard.

Step 1: Set Your Archive URL

Choose a unique identifier for your archive subdomain. This will be used in your public URL:

https://{your-slug}.xmit.sh

Archive URLs are globally unique across all Transmit workspaces. Choose something memorable like your newsletter name.

Step 2: Enable the Archive

Toggle the archive switch to make your archive publicly accessible. Until enabled, your archive page will return a 404.

Branding Your Archive

Customize your archive to match your brand identity.

Display Name & Tagline

  • Display Name - The title shown in the header and hero section
  • Tagline - A short catchy phrase displayed below the name (max 100 characters)

Description

Write a compelling description (max 500 characters) that:

  • Appears in the hero section of your archive page
  • Used as the meta description for SEO
  • Helps visitors understand what your newsletter is about

Accent Color

Choose a brand color that will be applied to:

  • Subscribe buttons
  • Links and hover states
  • Badge highlights
  • Card interactions

Use the color picker or enter a hex code (e.g., #3b82f6).

Add your newsletter logo URL for the archive header. Recommended: square image, at least 64x64px.

Social Share Image

Upload a custom OG image for social sharing. This image appears when your archive is shared on Twitter, LinkedIn, and other platforms. Recommended size: 1200x630px.

Growing Your Audience

Subscribe Button

Add a Subscribe URL to display a prominent subscribe button in:

  • The archive header
  • The hero section of your listing page

This links to your external signup form or landing page.

Add up to three social links that appear as icons in your archive header:

  • Twitter/X - Your Twitter profile
  • LinkedIn - Your LinkedIn profile or company page
  • Website - Your main website or blog

Publishing Campaigns

Once your archive is enabled, you can publish individual campaigns.

From Campaign Details

  1. Open any sent campaign
  2. Click Publish to Archive
  3. Your campaign is now publicly visible

The public URL will be:

https://{your-slug}.xmit.sh/{campaign-slug}

Unpublishing

Click Unpublish on any published campaign to remove it from public view. The campaign remains in your dashboard.

Archive Page Structure

URLContent
{slug}.xmit.shListing of all published newsletters with hero section
{slug}.xmit.sh/{campaign}Individual newsletter view

Subdomain Setup (Cloudflare)

Your archive works automatically on the *.xmit.sh wildcard domain.

Custom domains (like archive.yournewsletter.com) require Cloudflare for SaaS setup. Contact support for enterprise custom domain options.

Best Practices

Consistent Branding: Set up your logo, colors, and tagline to create a professional presence that matches your newsletter.

Compelling Description: Write a clear description that tells visitors what to expect from your newsletter.

Add Subscribe Link: Drive growth by linking to your signup form. The subscribe button appears prominently in the header and hero.

Consistent Publishing: Build an archive over time for SEO value. Each published newsletter is an indexable page.

Descriptive Subjects: Campaign subjects become page titles. Write clear, descriptive subjects for better search visibility.

Social Share Image: Create a custom OG image so your archive looks great when shared on social media.

Privacy Considerations

  • Tracking pixels are removed from archived content
  • Personalization variables show generic values
  • Unsubscribe links are removed or disabled
  • Only explicitly published campaigns are visible
